Henri spends every holiday in his second home in Isola d’Elba where he has his second house which is built in the grounds of a former vineyard. This objet is made from the lid of a wine barrel.
"It was a fun days fishing….I thought I had caught a fish but it turned out to be a boot.
I patiently waited and…."
"I finally caught a fish!" Henri loves making up charming tales.
This is a figure made of a driftwood which Henri found on the beach of Isola d’Elba.
Venezian beads have been added as ornamentation.

| 1981 | 1981 His products were sold at PUPI SOLARI, a shop in Milan. He felt that he'd reached the limit of what he could do on his own so he decided to enlarge his craft center and gathered more workers. | |
| 1982 | 1982 HENRI meets a shoe maker. A comfortable-to-wear moccasin was invented, which later became one of the vital items. HENRI gradually developed his interest in making interior products/furniture such as cushions, mini-tables and chairs. The company gradually expanded. | |
| 1985 | 1985 The first shop opens in Milan. His name was used for the label except the spelling was changed into HENRY BEGUELIN. He has a crucial encounter with BARNEYS NEW YORK. As they were strongly impressed with HENRI's products, BARNEYS displayed them in show windows, which led to the recognition of the label in the American market. | |

| 1998 | 1998 He launched a new label. As a departure from HENRI BEGUELIN and to restart his creative production, it was appropriate to take the name of the little craft center-cum-shop in Elba, "HENRI CUIR" which was his starting point. "Cuir" means leather in French as well. In the same year, his first shop opened in Minami Aoyama, Tokyo. His products are also available in some outlets in Europe and Barneys, New York. |

The retrospective exhibition by Henri Beguelin and his products, Henry Cuir, "HENRY CUIR BY HENRI BEGUELIN" was held in our flagship store in Aoyama from April 16th to 24th. The whole line up of bags produced since 1999 till today was exhibited together with a variety of gorgeous objets created by Henri and transformed the store into a fantastic space.
Henri says 'I like to give my creations names. The bag I made as a gift for my loved mother was named after her. When god brought my child into the world, I made a picture frame pendant. This pendant was named YODA because my baby's face was very wrinkly after being just born and looked similar to YODA from Star Wars. All the names have a sense of humor, which I think is quite quintessential to my label.'
A special stitching technique called Saddle-stitching, which is normally used for making harnesses, is used in the manufacturing process; each product is stitched using one needle after the other interchangeably. The result of such careful and hard work can be seen in the strongly made leather products, which also display the warm characteristics of manufacture by hand.
Here, this person is making a mark on the leather in accordance to the pattern paper. He makes the mark precisely yet promptly while simultaneously checking the quality of the leather.
One of the vital elements of Henry Cuir goods is embroidery. This embroidery is called CANE and depicts an icon of a dog.
Here is a line up of past sample pieces kept in the atelier. It’s almost as if they have come straight from the pages of an interior design book.
In Italy, March 8th is the day of women known as "festa de la donna". Men are supposed to give Mimosa flowers to women. The Mimosa flowers were seen in every corner of the atelier on the day.
